A bit of radio silence here and I didn’t do this on purpose. I jumped into a new job recently. And I thought it was a good idea to update you all. I started working at Sneaker District as their Creative Content Designer. What does this mean? I plan and style shoots. I blog every day, which means I also write the posts. I design new apparel for Sneaker District, I try to create one day in the week. Every day is different. I even had a few days that I took pictures of new products but I’m always joining Gino (our photographer) when he goes out to shoot products. It’s pretty hectic when a new release of Nike is coming. This always means we receive the sneakers one day before release so I have to be quick sorting out location, styling and models.
It’s a lot different from what I used to do but I really enjoy it so far. It’s also new to me, saying this you might think why this is but working for a sneaker company is different than creating content for CAREAUX or ShecozyLifeOf. It’s a whole new target group and they like different things so I like how I can learn about this too. Going from designing sneakers every day to something completely different is a big thing. I’m actually very surprised how much work one shoot costs. Finding a location (for free or for cheap) is difficult, also started to notice that most places don’t like it if you take pictures unannounced. A lot of communication as well. I didn’t have that with my previous job, only on moments when we had an actual meeting. So far, I enjoy it a lot and the team is dope and nice too!
I work four days a week, this is so I still have one day to focus on CAREAUX. One day it’s focussed on illustrating and the other day I’m in meetings. I even flew to Berlin a few weeks ago, I’ll update you guys about that soon too! The weekends are for me, my family and friends. I also noticed I spend less time on my phone lately and when I want to speak to friends, I just call them instead of texting.
This one day, I couldn’t find a model in time so I decided to do it myself. I shot the new Air Force 1 Jester, together with Nikki (yes Nikki is my coworker now, we got hired at the same time).
