a Balé time

Our vacation is slowly coming to an end. We are actually on our way to Hong Kong as we speak. We both got sick on this trip – yes it’s not only me for once. I still have a bit of cramps but not so much however my boyfriend is still recovering and not feeling well so I hope we have a first good night sleep in Hong Kong and are good to go for sight seeing in the morning. A minor tip: do not go crazy on the food like we did, your stomach will hate you for it! Our trip started with a three day stay in Singapore. After sightseeing, shopping and a lot of food we took a 2,5 hour flight to Bali. This is actually the first time I call it a vacation cause the times I visited Bali in the past were just short and I would leave in a couple of days. This time we were staying 10 days.

I met up with a friend in Bali, we met through work when I was still freelancing. We spoke about how much both of our lives had changed and what for impact freelance had on our health. Close to a burn out, I’m happy how my life changed and not see time away from home as work anymore. It’s time off. And this time off is exactly what I needed. Time to reflect on myself again. Time to see what I want in life and if I’m currently happy. I have nothing to complain. I do have my doubts still about what I do nowadays. Not because I don’t like it: I love it. It’s just more, am I giving everything I have? Am I the person they need? What exactly do I want to do or change maybe about my work or develop myself into? I’ll spare you my long talks about life and my future that I have no clue about yet, I actually started this post because I wanted to show you our amazing villa in Bali. Welcome to “a Balé time”.

We were picked up at the airport by a driver from the Balé. He took us to a local shop to buy a sim card for the 10 days we were there. It’s a must! It’s easy so you can get around quickly, look everything up and also share whatever you want others to see. We arrived at the Balé after a 30 minute drive to Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua is not close to Seminyak or Canggu, which are now the most popular places to stay but thats exactly what I wanted. I’ve stayed at several Lifestyle Retreats locations but this one really blew my mind.

Besides the resort being extremely pretty and spacious, the staff is so helpful, friendly and caring. Everything is in the details and all well taken care off. I kinda knew this already but they didn’t let you do anything, at all. So when my boyfriend brought back our breakfast in the morning to the lobby, they full apologised because they thought they were rude when we were just like: “It’s okay, we wanted to return it ourselves”. I can understand why they felt bad and where they are coming from as it’s their job but then again, it’s okay to help one another. We are okay with doing most of our things ourselves. But just know that everyone at the Balé is extremely helpful so let it happen, it’s your vacation. Let others take care of you. It’s a good thing! You need to rest.

The villa itself is craaaaaazy! Crazy means it’s pretty, amazing, cozy, so dope and out of our league really. It’s not something you get to see every day or at a regular villa. Knowing about the mosquitos in Bali, the bed comes with a mosquito net. There also enough anti insects sprays. Don’t be scared of the local “Tokeh”, it may happen one shows up in your villa but just let them be, it’s very common and nothing to worry about. They are more afraid of you ;).

The bathroom has two location to shower: 1 outside and the other inside. The one inside is separated from the toilet by a glass wall. So you can watch your loved one do a poop while you clean yourself – so much fun hahaha. There is a nice bathtub with a tv on the wall for relaxation. The bathroom has two sliding doors: one straight to the pool and the other to the bedroom area. The breakfast in the morning is served on your outside patio, next to the pool.

This location is everything. It’s quiet and peaceful, it’s definitely what I wanted while coming to Bali. If you plan to visit Bali, definitely have a look at the Balé. Don’t stay here for your whole trip but just book it for a few days. We stayed for two days and it was really nice. We didn’t leave the villa because we had everything we needed. If we wanted something else, we went to chill at the public pool! It’s located next to the restaurant so you can do breakfast or lunch there too at the sunbeds!

Thank you the Balé and Lifestyle Retreats for having us.

If you plan to book the Balé or just curious about pricing, feel free to visit www.thebale.com or if you have any other questions about Bali itself, don’t hesitate to ask me. I’ve visited 5 times now and I kinda know my way around already, what to do, where to go. Canggu has changed so much in these 3 years, a lot of new food joints showed up and there’s a lot more to do as well!
